Yep, still alive. Kicking? Well, hopefully more so this year.
2007 was pretty much a creative wash due to crazy career moves for both me and Barron. I ended up working at a medical company in a department with wall-to-wall women. Quite the dramatic (and I emphasize the word dramatic to the nth degree) contrast to when I worked with all men at my dot com job.
As a kid, I always wanted to live a real life episode of "The Facts of Life"... but not on freaking acid!!!
If nothing else, the experience has provided me with copious book material/dinner conversation tales for decades to come. Barron can decide if he wants to share his workplace insanity with y'all. Our respective companies folded and the requisite massive layoffs hit right before the holidays. Never fun to go through but, sadly, not a new experience for either one of us. Webmaster B is already safely ensconced in a new company and I am holding my breath on a state job – not exactly my ideal but it’s all about security, vacation and health benefits now.
On the medical front, Barron is still doing super cool/rad/awesome sans gallbladder and I survived surgery #17 (massive right foot reconstruction) in October. Look out scar fetish sites, here I come! Already this year, my dad and a close friend went through serious medical scares but all is stabilized for now. I'm hoping February will provide the necessary breather to emotionally process everything from the past 12+ months.
And I’ll take this opportunity to plug Le Scaphandre et le Papillon aka "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly." It deserves every award it wins and then some. This film should be required viewing for every high school social studies class along with “Red Asphalt” (remember that?). It would provide the younger generations with much-needed empathy skills.
On a more positive note, I did post the new Anita chapter to the Darkfin MySpace site and worked on another property which is currently making the rounds. I was beyond thrilled to see my two all-time sonic goddesses, Bjork and Tori Amos, here in LA within the same week at the sucky new Nokia theater -- just like most chicks in this town (native and transplant), gorgeous on the outside, distant/clueless/hollow on the inside. I beg any artist coming in the future to please choose The Wiltern instead. I also saw the extremely talented Feist and Spoon at The Gibson and Kelly Clarkson (seriously people, stop laughing at me on this) a week later. Yay aural pleasure!
So, that's about it for now. I promise to make a concerted effort to get back to Darkfin this year, even if it means posting plain text chapters on the MySpace page. I really do appreciate those of you who stay in contact and keep your fingers, toes and eyes crossed for a great 2008: )

New DF Chapter... honestly!
Season 4, Chapter 6: "Soldiers of Misfortune" is up in a very simple form on the MySpace site.
We'll do our best to get it up here on the main site soon.
Enjoy and thanks for your continued patience and support!

Thanks again to those of you who remembered Darkfin during this solstice season: )
Let's hope 2007 is a better year for everyone!

After much poking and prodding from various nefarious players, I have decided to do the MySpace thing for Darkfin:
I know it’s a little late but better than never. While this is in the process of catching up to darkfin.com, I ask again for your patience. If you’re already on MySpace, feel free to add and say hey!
For the most ardent loyalists still out there, this is also a good time to catch you up on what has been happening (or not happening) over the last couple of years. Be sure to check out the MySpace Blog for a condensed version of “Fishing for Further”

Happy Birthday B!
Natal day wishes to our amazing webmaster, Barron: )
Also, happy birthday later this month to Brenda!
Good catch, Sophia; )
Good luck to my boy Colton whose movie will be at festivals in Austin, Dallas, and more!
I will deeply miss Andre Agassi, he is a major reason why I love tennis (along with Seles and Sabatini).
Very sad about Steve Irwin but they are called STING rays for a reason, not ebullient rays.
When did ROC get a divorce???

To the point
Chapter 5 is up!
Sunday, July 16, 2006
Just wanted to let you know the new DF chapter featuring Kylee is up
and it is vastly "lighter" and more fun than what we have had/will
have so far in Season 4. Kylee is always a kicky character for me to
write and she is based on actual women in my life. She is also
another way for me to channel sexy/slutty Southern Belles with
As for the image in this chapter, please send copious amounts of love
and props to Barron for doing an outstanding job since it is, I
believe, the best this character has ever looked - lighting and color
(as well as a new hairstyle) do make a world of difference, just like
on an actual broadcast news set - also, B's company just shuttered
its U.S. operations and he is looking for a new job, uh, right now.
So, if y'all know anyone at a cool company in the Bay Area looking
for an even cooler computer genius, please link him up!
More DF chapters and changes to come soon (fingers crossed).
P.S. And a very happy birthday (tomorrow) to my boy Colton who rocked
the film fest and got a very decent review in Variety - I so proud, I
so proud: )

Actually, it’s been there for a week but this is the formal new chapter announcement now that certain bugs have been fixed – for those who caught the "business suit" look, please consider that a limited edition special; )
The happy news is that Webmaster B is thriving sans gallbladder and is back to his graphic magic. The next chapter is awaiting his digital talents.
Meanwhile, I would like to take this opportunity to brag about a very dear friend of mine. Several years ago, I worked at a horrid little internet startup and the only good thing to come from that (besides profound knowledge of hunting knives) was/is my friendship with Colton Lawrence. A strikingly handsome Texan-turned-Californian-turned-World Traveler, he shared my creative writing frustrations in an environment dominated by power cliques and bottom liners. We both hatched our own story ideas at the time (for me, it was Darkfin) and now I am so unbelievably proud to say that his script is a movie in the prestigious Frameline festival. So, if you’re in the Bay Area, please be sure to check out the sex movie on 6/21. Barron and I will be there, we hope you’ll be there as well!
